Exam Question- Repetition
Jason Evans; repetition of colour
Jason Evans is a Welch fashion photographer but he has taken part in repetition photography exhibitions.
In the photographs i took, i tried to use objects to capture repetition. I edited them to enhance colour, contrast and brightness. On Photoshop i used different steps to achieve a final edit. Jason Evans captures colour in different objects. firstly I noticed he had features repetition with fruit. In one photo-shoot I focused on organising food which have bright colours. Repetition with food photoshoot.On the second photo shoot I organised and randomly placed items so each photo is unique. The photographs have different lighting. So some create shadows which shows another layer of repetition. Where as others are taken from above so it shows just bright colours.

Developing Ideas- my edited ideas:This picture of cola bottles is my favourite edit in the style of Jason Evans because it included a mixture of techniques. Like Evans does when he edits photos, I changed the background to draw attention to the centre of the photo. I also added shadows and made highlights brighter. The light background makes the cola bottles stand out and they look 3d.
This edit shows colour and detail. It also displays different media.

Photographs capturing repetition;
~Edits in the style of Lim
This photograph was taken at an angle. It captures the reflection of the sun and it look as though it is 3d, or has curves. the original picture was dull. So I auto coloured it and duplicated it 4 times. After doing this and arranging them into order, I checked if the lines match and finally flatened the image.
Lisa Milroy; repetition of still objects and patterns
Lisa Milroy is a Canadian artist who paints still contemporary art. She first moved to England to study art in 1978. After attending 4 art colleges she now works in a fine arts school in London.
I used her designs to re create my own ideas. Milroy paints items such as clothes, shoes and vases. In her art work she arranges the items on plain backgrounds in formations. The formations are often grids, rows, columns and groups. In my photo shoots i attempted to re create groups and patterns on plain backgrounds. In photo-shoot 2 i recreated her idea of using shoes. |

final piece
During my research I looked at many different artists. One of the ideas I had was to re create Karl Blossfelt on natural repetition. He captures photos on plants and flowers. After taking a series of photos in his style, I decided his work was to plain. In my photography I wanted colour and something different. Jason Evans and Lisa Milroy always focus on colourful items. Items which catch someone's attention. As well as these artists, Jared Lim uses ideas which puzzle the brain. I was particularly drawn to his ideas because they were very abstract. I discovered all these artists by the internet and in books. I have learnt different ways to organise and experiment with photography while researching this topic.
I decided I wanted a variety of different responses. I considered using different media and techniques. In my final pieces it shows each artists work. While it displays pictures mounts on a painted background.
The overall outcome of my final piece was good. It was inspired repetition and it shows the colour ideas I had taken interest to during research.
